Key Stage 2 students in Bromley are among the highest achievers in the country this year.
Bromley was the second best borough for students performing at the expected standard or above for reading and maths, achieving 78% and 81% respectively.
The south London borough was third in combined reading, writing and mathematics, with 66% of students achieving the expected standard in all three subjects, one point behind Kensington and Chelsea and Richmond, which were in joint first position.
It was joint fourth in grammar and joint sixth in writing, with 81%.
Bromley was also ranked highly for the percentage of students reaching a high standard in the tests – it was joint fifth for combined reading, writing and mathematics (9%), as well as for reading (27%) and grammar (31%). It was joint seventh in mathematics (26%).
“These are really pleasing results which demonstrate the good educational standards being achieved by children in Bromley,” said Councillor Peter Fortune, executive member for education. “I should like to commend our local teaching staff for their commitment to aiming high and to congratulate all the pupils who have clearly worked hard this year to perform so well in these key tests.”
