A new 6,950sq m, 63-bedroom hotel will open in Orpington this summer.
Managed by Premier Inn, it is the second part of the two-phase transformation of the Walnuts Shopping Centre, owned by Rockspring Property Investment Managers.
Located on Orpington High Street, the hotel was granted planning permission in November 2014 and is being developed by Gilbert Ash.
Planning consent for the first phase had been secured in 2012. It involved an 18,730sq m expansion of the 19,000sq m shopping centre through the demolition of the adjacent Crown House (a former job centre).
Phase one provided a multiplex cinema, three restaurants, three new retail units and a fitness centre.
A new B&M Bargains store and Pure Gym opened on the site in late 2015 followed by restaurants Bella Italia and Dean’s Diner in early 2016. Other shops and another restaurant will be launched in the upcoming months.
The first Orpington cinema in 34 years opened in March 2016. Managed by the Odeon, it features seven screens and 959 seats. It also includes an iSENSE screen with a hi-tech, dolby-surround system, designed to deliver an ultra-high-definition cinema experience. An in-screen dining concept provides cinemagoers with a wide range of food options, including freshly baked pizza.
