Planning permission is in place for the first phase of homes at Essential Landís Langley Court development on the former GlaxoSmithKline site in Beckenham.
Building work on 22 family homes at the site is due to start in January 2016. The approved plans also include improvements to the road layout, utilities and sewage systems at the site.
The creation of a sports academy will be dealt with in a separate planning application. This part of the plan is to replace and upgrade the leisure facilities previously run by GlaxoSmithKline.
The sports academy will sit within a green corridor which includes a bandstand, the landscaping of the banks of the River Beck, a large children’s play area, and a network of pedestrian and cycle paths.
Legal agreements and planning consents are being finalised.
Martin Bellinger, partner of Essential Land, said: "The momentum is really picking up and the transformation of the site is set to emerge over the next couple of years."
