In suburbia

Wed 15 July 2015, 5:19 pm

More than 5,000 people attended The Big O festival – ‘a celebration of suburbia’ – which took place in Bromley's Priory Gardens earlier this month (4 July).

Sponsored by Orpington 1st, the region’s Business Improvement District (BID), the event featured live music, fashion shows, exhibitions, classic cars, scooters, TV and film props and a ‘bake-off’.

Bromley Mayor Councillor Kim Botting opened the event. Orpington MP Jo Johnson was also in attendance.

A spokesperson for Orpington 1st, said: “The BID is proud to have been the main sponsor of this event and would like to thank the organisers, Talking Box, for putting on such a great show.

“We have had really positive feedback about the day and, as importantly, about the town itself and how these events help to create the atmosphere that visitors to the high street want.”

The next Orpington 1st events are 'Priory Live', a music festival on Saturday 15 August which ends with a firework display, and 'Cyclemania' on Sunday 20 September – celebrating cycling for sport, leisure, fitness and travel.
