by Jim Dunton Wed 15 January 2014, 11:30 am

The second phase of a £5.2 million programme of public-realm improvements to Bromley North Village has now begun.

Bromley Council said work - which includes the introduction of granite paving and new street furniture - would focus on East Street, South Street, High Street North and Market Square, for completion between March and October.

It follows a first phase of rejuvenation focused on part ot East Street that was completed before Christmas.

Renewal and recreation lead Councillor Peter Morgan said the work underlined the borough’s commitment to revitalising the town centre.

“We are working closely with local businesses at this crucial time and are encouraged to see the new Mitre Close car park well used on a daily basis and increased footfall in the High Street as a result,” he said.

“A new East Street is taking shape and we are already seeing more footfall and shops being let.”
