Bromley College's £4.5 million sports centre has been earmarked for completion by the end of the year.
The complex, which is jointly funded by a government grant and the college, will feature four badminton courts, a gymnasium, lecture theatre, sports science lab and specialist demonstration facilities.
Courses at the college for further and higher education include sports therapy, sports massage, sport science, apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships in sport.
The development represents a landmark for the college, in rebuilding the current sports centre that was constructed in 1959.
Sam Parrett, principal of Bromley College, said: "Our new sports centre will be a hugely valuable resource for our current and future students, and also for members of the local community who will be able to access the facilities in the evenings and weekends.
"Its development forms part of the college’s strategic plan in which we set out our commitment to improve our students’ environment and experience by providing, and continuing to invest in, first class education, training, technology and social resources.
"Through offering a range of sports, activities, classes and fitness testing, this fabulous new resource will further improve the student experience at the college and form a dynamic part of the local community and our Bromley campus."
