Bec Rec friends pitch park plans

Beckenham Recreation Ground's 'friends' group is calling for local feedback on its plans to restore the park - and its historic bandstand - to its former glory.
The group is asking residents living near the Croydon Road park for their thoughts on a proposed funding bid to pay for work to restore the bandstand and rebuild the children’s paddling pool.
Friends of Bec Rec chairman Chris Phillips said it was vital for residents to support the proposals by giving responses to an online survey that will be used as evidence for a grant bid.
“We are passionate about restoring the bandstand to its former glory and we have already received national recognition for the campaign,” he said.
Borough environment lead Councillor Colin Smith said the authority was “extremely supportive” of the group's work and its vision for the recreation ground.
“These dual projects are a classic example of what can be achieved when our amazingly successful and popular friends groups work in partnership with the council for the greater good,” he said.
The Bec Rec survey can be taken at the friends group’s dedicated Survey Monkey page.
