Bromley Council has finished the first phase of its £5.2 million programme of work to revitalise the North Village area.
Efforts to date have seen new granite paving laid in East Street, along with the introduction of new lamp columns and trees.
Councillor Peter Morgan, the borough’s recreation and renewal lead, said the project would provide an economic boost to the historic area and build on other long-term developments.
“This major improvement to East Street underlines our commitment to improving town centres and ensuring people want to shop, trade and spend time in the area,” he said.
“We are already hearing early indications from agents of shops being let and increased footfall showing the value in the scheme.
“We are committed to playing our part to ensure that Bromley remains an enticing place for business and investment.”
