Orpington firms post rise in women directors

by Jim Dunton Wed 27 November 2013, 1:08 pm

The proportion of women being appointed as company directors in Orpington increased over the first six months of this year, according to new research.

Women made up 32 per cent of all director appointments in the area during the first six months of 2013, business analytics firm Duport said - up from 27 per cent during the same period the previous year.

Managing director Peter Valaitis said the number of directors aged 25 or below was also increasing - marking a further dynamic boost for the town, which is currently undergoing a significant level of regeneration.

"The rising number of female directors and young directors reflect a business community that is becoming more diverse - this can only be a good thing for the local economy of Orpington," he said.
