Town hall proposals expected 'in months'

Bromley Council has agreed heads of terms for the development of a hotel and office complex at its former town hall.

A progress update on the town’s main development sites, delivered to watchdog councillors this week, said developer Cathedral Group is aiming to submit an application for a scheme involving the 107-year-old Tweedy Road building within six months of entering into a conditional contract.

The update to members of Bromley's renewal and recreation policy development committee said negotiations over the terms of the agreement are completed, and that authority for the council to enter into the agreement had been sought from its executive committee.

The council said Cathedral aimed to “start on site in the summer of 2014 and open the hotel and conference centre in late 2015”.
