Supermarket eyes Mottingham pub development

by Jim Dunton Wed 22 May 2013, 4:51 pm

Discount supermarket chain Lidl is seeking permission to demolish the Porcupine pub in Mottingham to make way for a new branch.

The operator bought the Mottingham Road building from Enterprise Inns earlier this year and is asking Bromley Council for permission to clear the building and landscape the site ready for development.

Its demolition request seeks permission to carry out the work in June 2013.

Lidl’s application - which is not a planning application for a new building - suggests it plans to redevelop the site with a food store with an 800sq m sales area and “approximately” 30 parking spaces.
