Hayes installs rare Royal tribute

Hayes Village Association has installed a brand-new clock designed specially to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The clock, which has now been erected in the central reservation of Station Approach, replaces an original 1977 Silver Jubilee Clock, which has now been re-hung in Old Hayes.
The clock was made by Gillet and Johnston and its face features years from the Queen’s reign rather than minutes.
It is understood to be one of only a few such clocks in the country.
Bromley Council resources lead Councillor Graham Arthur said the community in Hayes had shown great determination in raising the funds for the clock.
“It is a wonderful way to remember a very special year in our history and I am sure the clock will be enjoyed by generations for years to come,” he said.
“I am delighted the Council has been able to support Hayes in what is a very proud achievement."
