CSC plans October submission

Wed 21 September 2011, 8:08 am

Capital Shopping Centres will submit plans for the expansion of The Glades in Bromley during October.

The Glades general manager Howard Oldstein told delegates at Invest Bromley today (September 20) that 1,000sq m of new cafes and restaurants would enhance the Queens Gardens area next to the shopping centre and help nurture Bromley town centre's nightlife scene.

"It may lead to later opening hours at The Glades," he added. "Because of the restaurant offer at The Glades and the new lesiure on Westmoreland Road [as part of Cathedral Group's Bromley South Central scheme]."

Oldstein also welcomed Bromley Council's plans to extend the town centre's retail offer, especially on the area called Site G and designated for 20,000sq m of retail space.

"With 17 million customers a year walking through The Glades there is enough to go 'round," he said. "They will be different offers," he added, observing that the new development would include larger fashion stores.
