Council rejects extended Biggin Hill opening hours

Bromley Council has rejected an application to extend the opening hours of Biggin Hill airport during next year’s London Olympic Games.
The executive said that the application by Biggin Hill Airport Limited was rejected following a public consultation.
The council, which is landlord of the airport, said that it was unconvinced by the business case outlined by BHAL.
He said there were significant business opportunities for the airport as the Olympics approaches which BHAL could take advantage of under its existing lease."
A total of 1741 responses were received during the public consultation, with 690 (40%) responses supporting the proposal and 1046 (60%) responses against it.
