Bromley to unveil £1 billion plan

Tue 24 May 2011, 8:07 am

London Borough of Bromley is set to unveil a £1 billion town centre area action plan, including major new development sites, news of schemes going forward and other investment opportunities across the borough.
The action plan will be revealed at a one-day conference called Invest Bromley, on September 20th 2011.

Invest Bromley offers prospective and existing investors in the borough presentations and workshops detailing planned and ongoing developments within Bromley, in particular 12 key town centre development sites and significant opportunities at Biggin Hill airport and elsewhere.

"Bromley is on the cusp of a transformation in terms of investment and development," said the council's director of renewal and recreation, Marc Hume. "We have assembled some very exciting plans and our leadership and management are absolutely determined to help development take place."

"Bromley is a town with a significant future," added Richard Upton, chief executive at Cathedral Group, developer of the £80 million mixed-use scheme Bromley Reach and sponsor of Invest Bromley. "It is strategically placed to be a very successful business hub with excellent transport links and its proximity to Central London.  But it needs investment and support.  Our scheme is one of a number that will provide Bromley with the vibrant town centre it deserves both for the businesses that will locate there and for the people who live and work there."

Delegates will have opportunities to discuss the schemes with key figures from the council, including the leader and cabinet members, as well as senior management and the planning team. Alongside them, existing developers in the borough, major local employers and property analysts will provide information and expert market knowledge.

London Mayor Boris Johnson and Rt Hn Bob Neill, MP for Bromley and Chislehurst and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Communities and Local Government, will make keynote addresses.

As well as the investment opportunities, delegates will learn about the local economy, geography, transport links, retail, housing, education, environment, jobs and skills market and the quality of life that Bromley offers.

Invest Bromley takes place at the Bishop's Palace, adjacent to the Civic Hall, Bromley, a seven minute walk from Bromley South station which is itself just 17 minutes from London Victoria station. Over 100 investors, developers and their consultants are expected to attend.
